Dan has 39 years of experience in accounting and finance. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Valuation Analyst. Dan has 11 years’ experience in public accounting, and served for 28 years as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Hoover & Strong, Inc, a privately-held precious metals refiner and manufacturer of jewelry and related products.
Dan’s experience in public accounting and manufacturing includes financial management, financial reporting, and bank and other financing transactions, as well as general and administrative functions and work with independent auditors, bankers, financial and benefits consultants, attorneys and insurance brokers. He has gained experience in private company valuation from valuing and analyzing potential acquisitions during his years in manufacturing and additional experience in his practice as a business valuation analyst.
Dan received a Bachelor of Science Degree in accounting from Virginia Tech in 1969. He earned his designation as a Certified Public Accountant in 1972 and became a Certified Valuation Analyst in 2006. He is member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the local Richmond Chapter of the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants. Dan is a member of the National Association of Certified Valuation Analyst. He is also a member of the Financial Executives International and treasurer of the local chapter. Dan remains active in jewelry industry organizations. He is a past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jewelers Board of Trade and is a member of their Executive Committee. Dan is also a member of the Twenty-Four Karat Club of the City of New York.
